Reflection: Short Stories
9.16.13
There are many strategies that people use when they read, however, I mainly focus on visualization and predicting. When I read, my main focus is on visualizing. I always try to depict what each and every character, setting, and object is the story looks like. I also like to predict when I read. I enjoy trying to come up with an ending before it happens in the novel.

Reflection: Summer Essay
9.13.13
In my summer essay, I focused on one thing: plot. Looking back at my literary analysis now, I find that I had nothing but plot. I did not really analyze the novel in a way that is new or exciting. I felt that I was only focused on what the words said and not reading "in between the lines".

Reflection: Reading Abilities
I think that my reading ability has dramatically improved. When I read, I know look for archetypes, mood, tones, repeated phrases/words, themes, etc. I have never done that before this year. I also feel more present in the story. Meaning that now that I know what to look for.
reflection #4
I chose my Lady or the Tiger paper mainly because I feel most confident when persuasive writing. I find it easy to find and use words that show tone and mood in the piece. Also, in my Lady or the Tiger paper, I had more peer review, knowledge on paragraph structure, and more confidence. This piece also had better choice in transition words, tone words, and quotes then my other options.
As I look at my writing, I find a definite gain of knowledge as far as paragraph structure goes. Before this course, I had no idea that a paragraph even had structure! I find that I am having trouble differentiating connotation and denotation but that will come with practice. Also, my transitions need some work. When reading my writing over, my transitions seem random and non fluent. Overall, I have seen a definite improvement in my writing.
